Our Telemetry software Shell packages implement the TM Space Data Link Protocol:
- the Telemetry Encoder Shell implements the on-board (sending) end of the protocol
- the Telemetry Decoder Shell implements the ground-based (receiving) end of the protocol
Both Shells support the CCSDS, ECSS and ESA standards for the TM Space Data Link Protocol. In earlier CCSDS and ESA standards, the protocol was called Packet Telemetry.
The Shell packages are highly portable and can be used on any system with an ANSI-standard C compiler. They are off-the-shelf software components for building ground and on-board telemetry facilities. They are also ideal for building simulators, demonstrations and spacecraft ground testing systems.
Note: The Telemetry Encoder and Decoder Shells handle the TM Transfer Frames (Version-1 transfer frames) defined for the TM Space Data Link Protocol. Our AOS products handle the Version-2 frames defined for the AOS Space Data Link Protocol of CCSDS Advanced Orbiting Systems.
Our Telemetry Shell packages are available immediately. Please contact us for further information on technical details or licensing conditions for any of our products.
Addition of Space Data Link Security (SDLS)
The September 2015 issue of the TM Space Data Link Protocol standard (CCSDS 132.0-B-2) includes the specification of the interfaces between the TM protocol and the Space Data Link Security Protocol (SDLS). We are currently updating our Telemetry Encoder Shell and Telemetry Decoder Shell products to include optional interfaces to the SDLS protocol.
