Projects in Data Communications
Studies of protocols for space applications and Internet communications:
- CCSDS Packet Telecommand changes (COP-1B)
- CCSDS Proximity-1 Space Link Protocol
- CCSDS File Delivery Protocol (CFDP)
- TCP, UDP and IP
Earlier projects in data communications:
- Terminal Emulation development:
- IBM PC to emulate a User Input Station to the Mission Control and Computing Centre at JPL in Pasadena
- exactly emulated an old type of hardware terminal that was no longer available
- used by ESA to send commands via the NASA Deep Space Network to the Giotto spacecraft on its fly-by missions to comets Halley and Grigg-Skjellerup in 1986 and 1992.
- VSAT network development:
- real time software to implement low level protocols of a 64Kbps VSAT network
- network terminals consisted of IBM PS/2 computers with 80186-based communications coprocessors.
